At Parsons Down, we are determined to create a culture that encourages ALL pupils to be active, nurturing positive attitudes towards physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
Our sports provision includes high quality physical education as part of the curriculum alongside a number of competitive school sport opportunities for those children who wish to take part. In addition, pupils have access to sports clubs during both lunchtimes and after school. Further enhancing sporting opportunities, Parsons Down is an active member of the West Berkshire Sports Network. This provides access to both competitive and participation events in a range of activities, from football and netball through to speedstacking and archery!
In recognition of the ongoing commitment to sport, Parsons Down was recently awarded the highest accolade of ‘Gold’ in the School Games, a government-led scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.
We carefully monitor the engagement of our disadvantaged pupils, ensuring EVERY pupil has equal access to all sporting opportunities, providing additional support where necessary to facilitate this goal. We are focused on ‘closing the gap’ between girls and boys, particularly in football, and have identified a number of ways we can achieve this ambition.
Please see our Sports Blog below for more information on our recent sporting activities.
